LIFE LESSIONS ON TWO WHEELS
Our mission
Our mission is to help at-risk children who come from a single caregiver home avoid the criminal justice system through adventures that foster healthy decision-making skills, instill resiliency through inspiring stories of overcoming adversity, and cultivate empathy through volunteering.
Our vision
Our vision is to give a young person access to a variety of healthy mental coping and decision making skills prior to confronting life’s challenging situations so that they have access to the tools to make better decisions that lead away from the criminal justice system and toward a fulfilling life of purpose.
What we do
What we do is to provide inspirational stories of how other people have overcome hardship and then apply those coping skills to adventures as a metaphor for overcoming life’s adversities. The newly learned life lessons will be reinforced through journaling and explored in small group discussion. We also provide bike repair / maintenance classes where the youth will have an opportunity to learn to build a bike from scratch.

Program principles
Every life has hardships. However, hardships come to some much earlier and with greater ferocity. Every young person should have the mental resources to make the best decision when confronted with undesirable options, have a plan for surviving, and a plan for thriving.
Program values
The following values will be positively reinforced 10C / 3H / 2P : Compassion, Courage, Creativity, Community, Commitment, Consistency, Culture, Camaraderie, Composure, Collaboration, Humor, Humility, Hope, Purpose, and Passion. These values will be reinforced through discussion, journaling, and tradition.
